The Maven Company, Inc. was founded in 1977 to conduct antiques related shows in the Connecticut area. The first show was conducted in February of 1978 at the Stratford National Guard Armory in Stratford, CT. Based upon several years of experience as an antiques dealer and experience conducting consumer and trade show events dating back to 1955, company founder, Richard N. Robbins, conducted the business as an avocation until August of 1984. In the meantime the business grew from one show to as many as 18 shows a year. In 1981 the company expanded into Western Massachusetts with the addition of the Eastern States Antiques & Collectibles Show and Sale in the 3.5 acre Better Living Center. At the time this was and still is the largest indoor antiques and collectibles show in the Northeast. Since that time we have increased our schedule at the West Springfield site to 6 shows per year. We now conduct the region's largest indoor doll, toy and teddy bear shows in The Better Living Center with over 240 booths for each edition of the show.

In October of 1984 Beverley F. Robbins joined the company (part time). In January of 1997 Beverley became the President of the Corporation and joined the firm on a full time basis.

In 1987 The Young Management Company was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Maven Company, Inc. to conduct several specialty shows. These shows now include vintage clothing, jewelry and textiles shows as well as our New Year's show, ANTIQUE-A-RAMA®.

On January 1, 1999 Martin L. Fasack was elected as president of The Maven Company, Inc., and Newman Chittenden was elected Vice President.  Both men have over 20 years of experience in conducting consumer shows.  Beverley and Richard N. Robbins will remain as consultants to the firm for the forseeable future.  This change guarantees the long term future of The Maven Company, Inc., and its shows. Over the years The Maven Company, Inc., has been an innovator of new and unique programs to help dealers sell their merchandise and to make their shows more successful. Among the firsts in the industry the company has the following programs:

• The Plus Business Program - We accept all major charge cards on behalf of those dealers who wish to participate in our program. This includes American Express, Carte Blanche, Diner's Club, Discover, MasterCard, Novus, Optima, and Visa. There is no fee to participate in the program. There is, however, a small percentage fee charged for each processed charge. Dealers may charge their payments on the above cards as well.
• Check verification program for any checks over $40. Again this is a voluntary program that dealers may use on a selective basis. There is a small fee charged for each check processed.
• Porters available at all shows other than our drive-in setup shows.
• A full time experienced professional staff.
• A chartered bus from New York City for consumers to several our Antique & Collectible shows.
• Reasonalble admission prices to our shows. Although they vary depending upon the event and the location, they run from $7.00 to $8.00 and we offer $1.00 discount coupons to every event.
• An extensive advertising campaign for each show. We were the first in the industry to utilize billboards, radio and TV in addition to heavy local and regional newspaper coverage...all in addition to the customary trade paper coverage.
• An extraordinary direct mail campaign for each show.
• A printed Buyer's Guide for some shows since 1981 that lists dealer's merchandise as part of our show program. A computer listing available at all shows.
• We are proud of our reputation of having some of the best organized shows in the country
